Immigrant Rights Panel in Freeport
On Tuesday, May 30, Long Island SOA Watch and the Freeport Community Worklink Center invite you to a panel discussion on immigrant rights, to take place at Freeport Memorial Library.
Can American and immigrant workers unite in their common struggles for jobs, decent salaries, health care, and education? Fifty years ago, the Civil Rights movement challenged the existence of racial prejudice. Does the Immigrant Rights movement have the same potential?
Freeport is right in the middle of this movement. Come join your
neighbors in a discussion about the struggle for immigrant rights. Speakers will include Charles Jenkins from the Transport Workers Union, Chicana organizer Teresa Gutierrez, and Father Bill Brisotti of the Church of the Miraculous Medal in Wyandanch.
