Colombia Documentary and Talk at the New School

This Friday, head over to the New School and check out a documentary about one of the SOA’s biggest clients: Plan Colombia: Cashing In on the Drug War Failure (dir. Gerard Ungerman, 57 minutes). Following the screening will be a panel discussion with Colombia Support Network’s Patricia Dahl and Renata Segura, of the Conflict Prevention Peace Forum, a New School Ph.D. candidate who is writing her dissertation on constitution making as a mechanism for conflict resolution in Colombia and Ecuador.

SOAW Long Island Presents Author Lesley Gill

Lesley Gill, American University anthropology professor and author of The School of the Americas: Military Training and Political Violence in the Americas, is coming to Long Island this month for a talk on war, torture, and U.S. foreign policy. In Gill’s 2004 book about the SOA, she presents a comprehensive portrait of the school, its institutionalization of state-sponsored violence, and the “dirty wars” it has wrought in Latin America.
